DISCIPLESHIP

Discipleship is core to who we are at Emmanuel. That’s why it’s in our Core Values: Grow Together. We have multiple settings that foster discipleship across generations. From Small Groups for all stages of life, to age specific worship environments, there’s a place for you to get connected and make sure you’re being discipled and growing into who God created you to be.

A PATH OF GROWTH

Christian discipleship means that we are not only called to learn the teachings of Jesus Christ, we are also called to live them. A disciple is someone who bases his or her life on the teachings of Christ “like a person building a house, who dug a deep hole to lay the foundation on rock” (Luke 6:48).

When we make our initial declaration of faith and ask Christ to be our Savior, He will begin changing us from the inside, giving us the ability to understand His word and the desire to live it.

And he said to all, “If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me. For whoever would save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake will save it.

Luke 9:23-24, ESV

TEACHINGS

We prioritize sound doctrine and faithful preaching of the Word. The teachings at Emmanuel are Biblically based and practical; they point to the truth of Scripture in ways that are relevant and understandable. Each week, you’ll be challenged by the Word and encouraged by the truths found in Scripture.

All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work.

2 Timothy 3:16-17, ESV

SMALL GROUPS

Small groups are core to Emmanuel’s belief in discipleship. In Acts 2, we read how the early church met together not just in the temple, but also from house to house. In small group, you won’t just meet people; rather, you will grow deep friendships with people who will love and challenge you as you journey together to become more like Jesus.

Iron sharpens iron, and one man sharpens another.

Proverbs 27:17, ESV
